How to Convert TIFF Files to CorelDRAW CDR Format
TIFF is the format of serious imaging. Scanners output TIFF. Professional photographers deliver TIFF. Pre-press and print production workflows use TIFF because it's uncompressed, colour-accurate, and preserves every bit of image data without the quality loss of JPG or the web-focus of PNG.
In a print studio that runs on CorelDRAW, you'll regularly receive TIFF files that need to be incorporated into designs — scanned artwork, product photographs from a photographer, archival images that need to be reproduced in a brochure or catalogue. The question is how to get them into CorelDRAW in a way that works properly.
How TIFF Normally Gets Into CorelDRAW
CorelDRAW can import TIFF files directly. File > Import, select the TIFF, and it comes in as an embedded or linked image object within your CorelDRAW document. This works fine for most TIFFs. The TIFF ends up as a raster image object inside your CDR — you can resize it, position it, apply CorelDRAW effects to it, but you can't "edit" the raster content the way you'd edit a vector object.
This is the important thing to understand about TIFF to CDR conversion: because TIFF is a raster format (pixel-based), converting it to CDR gives you a CDR file with the TIFF content embedded as a raster image. It doesn't magically become a vector file. The CDR container is there, the CorelDRAW document structure is there, but the actual image data is still pixels.

You receive a TIFF from a photographer or scanner and need to hand a CDR file to a print shop that expects CorelDRAW format — converting the TIFF to CDR gives them a file they can open and position within CorelDRAW
