## API for Developers

AsanConvert has a public REST API for converting files programmatically.

**Free sandbox, self-service.** Create an account, open Dashboard -> API, and
click "Create sandbox key". The key is issued instantly, with no card and no
sales call: 50 conversions per month, 10 requests per minute, files up to
25 MB, and full webhook delivery. Enough to build and verify an integration
before paying anything.

**Base URL:** https://asanconvert.com/api/v1

**Authentication:** send the secret key as a bearer token —
`Authorization: Bearer sk_live_...`, or `sk_test_...` for a sandbox key. Keys
are created in the dashboard. A key sent in a query string is rejected on
purpose, because query strings end up in access logs and referrer headers.

**Endpoints:**

- `POST /api/v1/convert` — submit a file (multipart `file`, or a `file_url` we fetch)
- `GET /api/v1/conversions/{id}` — status and the download link once ready
- `GET /api/v1/conversions` — list conversions, paginated
- `POST /api/v1/conversions/{id}/retry` — re-queue a failed conversion
- `GET /api/v1/formats` — exactly which formats and CDR versions that key may use

**Converting a CDR file to a different CorelDRAW version (downgrade or upgrade):**
send `target_format=cdr` together with `target_version`. Accepted values for
`target_version` are: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, X8, X7, X6,
X5, X4, X3, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8.

**Converting between formats:** send `target_format` on its own, for example
`target_format=pdf` to turn a CDR into a PDF.

**Asynchronous by design.** `POST /convert` answers `202 Accepted` straight
away with an id such as `cv_8f4a2b1c9d0e1f23`. The finished file arrives
either by webhook or by polling `GET /api/v1/conversions/{id}`.

**Webhooks:** the events are `conversion.processing`, `conversion.completed`
and `conversion.failed`. Every delivery carries an
`X-AsanConvert-Signature: t=<timestamp>,v1=<hex>` header, an HMAC-SHA256 over
the string `{timestamp}.{raw request body}`. Failed deliveries are retried
with a growing delay. The signing secret is shown in Dashboard -> API.
