CDR to PDF Converter — Open a CorelDRAW File Without CorelDRAW

Someone sent you a .cdr file and nothing on your computer will open it. Drop it below and get a PDF you can open, read, print and forward — on a Mac, a PC or a phone.

The PDF keeps real vectors, not a flat picture, so it stays sharp at any zoom and prints at full quality.

Quick answer

How to open a CDR file without CorelDRAW

Upload the .cdr above and pick PDF as the output. You get a standard PDF back in a few seconds — no software to install, no account, and it opens in whatever you already use to read PDFs.

Why nothing on your computer opens a CDR

CDR is CorelDRAW's own format, and Corel has never published it. Every release since the 1990s has changed the internal structure, so even other design programs only manage partial imports. That is why a .cdr looks like a broken file to Preview, Acrobat, Photoshop and Windows Photos alike — they are not failing, they were never able to read it.

On a Mac

CorelDRAW has not shipped for macOS since 2019, so a Mac has no way to open a CDR at all. PDF is the practical answer.

On Windows without Corel

A CorelDRAW licence is expensive for opening one file someone emailed you. Converting takes seconds and costs nothing.

On a phone

No mobile app reads CDR. A PDF opens in the built-in viewer on both iOS and Android.

What you get in the PDF

Preserved

  • Vector shapes — sharp at any zoom level
  • Original page size and orientation
  • All pages of a multi-page document, in order
  • CMYK colour values for commercial print
  • Selectable, searchable text where the CDR has live text

Worth knowing

  • Live text in a font we do not have gets substituted
  • Artwork already outlined to curves reproduces exactly
  • Embedded photos keep their original resolution
  • A PDF is for viewing and printing, not for editing in CorelDRAW

Only need to see what is inside the file before deciding? The free CDR viewer shows you the artwork in the browser without converting anything.

Frequently asked questions

I was sent a .cdr file and cannot open it. What is it? +

CDR is the native file format of CorelDRAW, a design program used heavily by print shops and sign makers. Nothing else opens it properly — not Preview, not Acrobat, not Photoshop. Converting it to PDF gives you a file that opens anywhere.

Do I need CorelDRAW installed? +

No. That is the whole point of this page. The conversion runs on our servers, so you need nothing but a browser. It works the same on a Mac, a Windows PC or a phone.

Does the PDF keep the vectors, or is it just a picture? +

It keeps the vectors. Text stays as text, shapes stay as shapes, and the PDF can be zoomed to any size without going blurry. It is not a screenshot of the artwork.

Can I print the PDF at full quality? +

Yes. Page size, colours and object positions are preserved, so the PDF prints at the dimensions the designer set. For commercial print, ask the designer to outline the fonts before sending the CDR.

Will the fonts look right? +

If the CDR has live text in a font we do not have, that text is substituted and spacing can shift. Files where the designer converted text to curves — most print-ready artwork — reproduce exactly.

What about multi-page CDR files? +

All pages convert into a single multi-page PDF, in the original order.

Is there a file size limit? +

Up to 150 MB per file on the free tier, with 10 conversions a day and no account required. Pro raises the limit to 500 MB and removes the daily cap.

Are my files private? +

Uploads are encrypted in transit, processed in an isolated environment, and deleted automatically after 3 hours. We never open, share or reuse them.
