Convertidor de AI a CDR — Abre Archivos de Illustrator en CorelDRAW
A client sent an .ai file and CorelDRAW opened it empty, black, or not at all? Upload it here and get a clean .cdr with the vector paths intact and every object still editable.
Nothing is traced or redrawn — both formats store real curves, so the geometry comes straight across. Pick the CorelDRAW version you actually have and the file opens first time.

Vectorization Settings
Controls how your image is converted to vectors
Better source = better vectors
Upscales your image before vectorization for sharper, cleaner results. Takes a few extra minutes.

Auto = smooth curves with fewer nodes. High = more detail, more nodes.

Quick answer
How to convert an AI file to CDR
Upload the .ai file above, pick CDR as the output, choose the CorelDRAW version installed on your machine, and convert. Paths, fills and layer order transfer directly and stay editable.
Why CorelDRAW opens some AI files badly
An .ai file is a PDF container with Illustrator's own private data layered on top. CorelDRAW reads the PDF part, so it can usually show something — but the features Illustrator keeps in its private section are exactly the ones that go missing. That is why a file looks perfect on the designer's screen and arrives broken on yours.
Clipping masks
Illustrator nests masks freely. CorelDRAW has PowerClip, which does not nest the same way — nested masks are the most common reason artwork imports as a blank page.
Gradient mesh
There is no CorelDRAW equivalent. Left to the importer it usually disappears entirely; we flatten it to a raster region so the artwork still looks right.
Live effects and symbols
Appearance-panel effects, art brushes and symbol instances are Illustrator-only constructs. They are expanded into real geometry before the CDR is written.
What comes across
Transfers cleanly
- All vector paths, curves and compound shapes
- Solid fills, strokes and stroke widths
- Linear and radial gradients
- Layer structure and object stacking order
- Spot and CMYK colour values
Needs attention
- Fonts you do not have installed get substituted
- Gradient mesh arrives flattened, not editable
- Blend modes map to the nearest CorelDRAW equivalent
- Placed raster images stay raster
- Deeply nested sublayers are flattened one level
If the artwork has to match exactly — a logo going to print, for example — outline the text in Illustrator before uploading. That removes font substitution as a variable entirely.
Frequently asked questions
Neither. The file is converted on our servers and comes back as a .cdr you can open directly. It works in any browser, on Mac, Windows or Linux.
It can, but its AI importer targets older PDF-based AI files. Anything saved from a recent Illustrator release routinely arrives with missing artwork, black-filled shapes or text in the wrong place. Converting first resolves the parts CorelDRAW misreads into geometry it handles reliably.
Yes. AI and CDR are both vector formats, so curves stay curves. Every object remains individually selectable, movable and editable once opened in CorelDRAW.
Illustrator layers map onto CorelDRAW layers where the structure allows it. Deeply nested sublayers are flattened one level, because CorelDRAW does not nest layers the same way Illustrator does.
Live text converts across, but only if the font is installed on the machine opening the file. If it is not, CorelDRAW substitutes another font and the spacing shifts. Converting text to outlines in Illustrator before uploading avoids this completely.
Gradient mesh has no CorelDRAW equivalent and is approximated as a flattened raster region. Multiply, Screen and other blend modes map to the nearest CorelDRAW transparency mode, which is usually visually close but not identical.
The one actually installed on the machine that will open the file. CorelDRAW cannot open a file written by a newer release — picking the newest option is the single most common reason a converted file then refuses to open.
Yes. 10 conversions a day at up to 150 MB per file, no account needed. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the cap to 500 MB.
